Summary

Elephants for Africa is looking for a part-time administrator to assist with the day to day running of the UK charity. Would involve working from home and liaising with CEO on a regular basis. Contracted to work 21 hours a week for an initial period of 6 months with a view to extend. Successful applicant can choose own hours to fit around their lifestyle. Would probably suit someone looking to fit work around child commitments or studies, or someone looking to gain extra income around current work commitments. If you are self-motivated, well organised, can pay close attention to details this job will suit you perfectly. We are looking for an enthusiastic person that can work unsupervised and report regularly to help with the smooth day-to-day running of the charity.  Job description

The work will be varied but will include the following:

  • Word processing
  • Dealing with emails, social media and other correspondence
  • Scheduling and attending meetings, creating agendas and taking minutes
  • Keeping diaries and arranging appointments
  • Organising travel for staff
  • Assisting with accounts and PAYE
  • Maintenance of presentations, records, spread sheets and databases.
  • Drafting reports and grant applications
  • Liaising with staff and with external contacts
  • Ordering and maintaining merchandise and supplies

Post Requirements

  • Experience with the following software packages: Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Excel and preferably Access,
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Good communication skills
  • A good level of English spelling and grammar
  • Good numeracy skills
  • Presentation skills and attention to detail
  • The ability to plan your own work, work on your own initiative and meet deadlines
  • The ability to manage pressure and conflicting demands and prioritise tasks and workload
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Tact, discretion and respect for confidentiality
  • A pleasant, confident telephone manner
  • Good team player
  • Reliability and honesty
  • Project management skills
  • An interest in natural history/wildlife would be an asset
